Week 13

 Week 13:

Week of Miracles!

We had exchanges first thing this week and I was in the sector of the other Hermanas with the Hermana Ribeiro from Brazil. We knocked on the door of Maria. (the other Hermana's just recently found her) ok the story of how they found her was actually crazy. They were at a members house watching general conference and the owner of the house said that she wanted to invite her neighbor to watch with them, but when she invited her she said no. So instead she turned up the volume really loud on her TV (because they share walls) so the neighbor could hear general conference, and after a while the neighbor showed up and said that she was listening to it through the wall and wanted to listen with them!! Crazy! So now its Hna Ribeiro and I knocking on her door and at first she didn’t want to let us in, but then she did. GUYS when people share stories about how God is preparing people for us who are ready to listen, literally it is true!!! Maria has so much faith and is so humble and we had a miracle of a lesson. We read Mosiah 18 (waters of Mormon) and she said that if she was there she would have her hand raised in the air shouting to have her be baptized first. So we invited her to be baptized and she said yes! This was the first lesson with Maria! One thing that she said during the lesson that I love so much is that the bible is a guide, but the book of Mormon is answers. And this is so true! The book of Mormon teaches the truths of the gospel so clear and we can better understand Jesus Christ and God by reading it!

Another miracle that happened during exchanges was with Carmen. Recently her daughter’s whole family passed away in an accident (her husband and 2 kids) and has been struggling a lot. Hna. Ribeiro said that she hasn’t been receptive to other lessons about the Plan of Salvation and she likes to talk and doesn’t give the missionaries time to teach. This situation is always heartbreaking because literally the people with the answers that you need are standing there, in front of you, talking with you but you won’t give them time to talk and give you the peace and comfort that you need. Ahhh I hate when this happens because sometimes you just have to walk away without saying everything you want to say. Anyways this is all the context that I had coming into this lesson. But this night a brother from the ward came and gave her a Priesthood blessing. Before he gave her a blessing he explained what the priesthood is and gave a powerful testimony of it. After the blessing she was very quiet and receptive and let us talk! Miracle! And we taught her the restoration and that we literally have the power and authority of God back on the earth today. Who knew that somebody who just lost 4 precious family members would need the message of the restoration, but God knew that this is what she needed.

We had lunch with Hermana Manena and I told her that she is like my grandma to me. Then she said that she doesn’t have any grandkids, so she isn’t a grandma, but she can be my grandma. I love this lady so much! Every Thursday she feeds the missionaries and she says that she makes the best food she can because she imagines Jesus in his white robe walking in and eating with us. She is so precious!

We watched a video of the tour of the temple in Rome with our friend David. His wife is a member of the church and she is working to be ready to receive her endowment! And we wanted both of them to know what happens inside the temple. It was very special and I shared with them an experience I had in the Mexico City Temple when i was in the MTC. We were doing sealings and as I watched one by one my district members be sealed in behalf of people on the other side of the veil, I couldn’t help but imagine my Grandma Teresa and Grandpa Tim kneeled across the alter with little kid Mom, little kid Aunt Kim and Raquel, and little kid Uncle Scott all dressed in white being sealed as a family for all eternity. How grateful I am for the faith that Grandma Teresa had to raise her family in the gospel and help Grandpa Tim learn and make covenants with God. I know I am here right now because of the faith of my Grandma and the faith of my parents for raising me in a loving gospel home. And I know right now that Grandma Teresa is my guardian angel protecting me on my mission.

Thank you all for the emails they always make my day!! If you want to send me one my email is
