Week 7

 Week 7:

GUYS I'M HERE! I made it!!!

The journey here was crazy! 8 hour flight was actually not that bad, I watched some documentaries about climbing, hiking, and tennis which made me a tiny bit homesick haha I miss climbing! But when we arrived in Chile we were greeted by the Mission President and his wife! I don't know why but when I saw the Mission President's wife I got teary eyed because she reminded me of Mom and she is basically my new Mom for the next while. It was a tender moment for me I guess. After the airport we went to the mission office where we ate pizza and traveled to an apartment where all of us 7 new Hermanas slept. Then in the morning we had breakfast (grilled cheese) and had our interview with the President. Then we got assigned our companions! This was a surreal experience too, I i shed some more tears because my companion is so cute and so nice and we are literally the exact same. Like we went shopping today and we bought basically all the same things! I have been so blessed to have such amazing companions so far! Hermana Durkin is from Las Vegas, but her family lives in Pleasant Grove! (mom go say hi)

Anyways after I met my comp, we ate hamburgers which were crazy yummy and then we got picked up with some members and headed to Limache (our area)! My comp got car sick on the way up and threw up in the car HAHA. Not funny but also SO funny. Don't worry she is fine haha. But we got to our apartment, I changed into warmer clothes because it was freezing and then we went out and tried to contact a few people. Then I came back and unpacked everything and went to bed. I was SO tired.

Next day we got up and exercised (I LOVE). I love being sore it makes me so happy! Anyways normal missionary morning with all the studies then we had district counsel where I met our district and they are so fun! The other Hermanas are literally the best! I love everyone I have met so far, all the missionaries, members, friends, random contact on the street even though I don´t have any idea what any of them are saying half the time. Then we had lunch with Manena (cute single old lady). Meals here always include a soup, bread, salad (only lettuce, oil, lemon juice, salt, and occasionally a tomato or two), chicken, rice, and some desert. SO MUCH FOOD. But its all yummy and healthy and a lot of people here grow their own food. Everyone has a garden or some sort of lemon tree. I didn't expect it to be in the country side but I am it is gorgeous! Anyways the days all kind of blend together but every day we have lunch with a family and they always are so generous and their houses are so cute. I literally want to live here one day everything is so adorable. I had my first completo (glorified hot dog).

We had a zone conference where we made breakfast burritos and it was a little hectic with 11 companionships all trying to help cook or be useful, but it was fun to meet everyone. I wish I had time to explain to you guys all the people I have met, they are all so cute. I lot of them are old and have no teeth which makes it even harder to understand because if you didn't know already Chileans don't speak Spanish, they speak Chilean. It is crazy how fast they talk and how much they don't pronunciation and they don't say the second half of any words, but nevertheless I am learning haha.

Oh and the mountains here AHHH I love so much. All the time there are the prettiest views and I think to myself there is NO way I live here right now. Like this is my life. I am here in Chile in el campo talking about Jesus. Well I guess listening to my companion talk about Jesus. Jkjk I have done a little more talking in the past few days don't worry.
But I am seriously learning so much! My companion is the best and she is so patient when I try to say one sentence to her and it takes me 5 minutes to say something haha. That was basically how the first 2 days went, but now I can carry like a 10 minute conversation in Spanish! As long as it is about speaking Spanish HAHA because that is all I talk about like how many days ago I arrived, where I am from, how I know Spanish, why Spanish here is so difficult to learn, etc. Anyways seriously I am loving it. I feel slightly guilty because I know missions are supposed to be hard, but right now it is almost too easy. I know it will get harder but I know that everything will be ok if I trust in the Lord! One thing Manena said when she was cooking food for us was that she wanted to feed us her best food because she was feeding Jesus. That really touched my heart because we are literally representatives of Jesus Christ and we are doing the things he would be doing if he was on the earth. On Sunday I bore my testimony in Spanish and looking from the stand at the congregation, I knew that what I was testifying of was true because there was a room full of 100+ people that have sacrificed so much to join the church and I knew that they are all children of God and God loves each of them just like he loves me and he loves you. I am so grateful for this super special opportunity that I will only have once. I am so blessed. I can't wait to have another week here and share all the amazing things that are going to happen in Chile!

God loves you!
Love Hermana Hilton
