Week 19
This week was AMAZING!
First off we had transfers and my new comp is awesome! The crazy thing is that before my mission, if someone didn't have the same interests as me or the same way of thinking, it was really hard for me to be friends with them. And my companion right now, we have nothing in common but I still love her so much! We find ways to have fun and literally I feel like God has blessed me with a lot more patience. Because literally 4 months ago it would literally be impossible to be friends with my comp, but when we focus on others and the work we are doing, we just love each other so much more. And also I have seen the power of prayer in this past week. I have focused a lot more on praying with real intention and that I really am talking to my dad in the heavens. And I have seen many miracles. I look forward to telling God all about my day and my feelings and thanking him for everything that happened. And I have found strength in praying for patience. To be honest I thought at first I would have to work hard for a while to learn to love my companion, but from day one I just loved her little guts. She really has a drive to find people that are ready and waiting. Which I admire a ton! But also one day i had this thought that really God is my father and I want to talk to him. And when I'm gonna see him again, it's going to be a beautiful experience. So many emotions of love and gratitude. And he wants us to look for him in every chance that we have.
This week I saw so many miracles. The one that happened most recently was that our friend Xiomara told us that she can get baptized most likely this week!! She has wanted to get baptized for about 1.5 months and she couldn't because her boyfriend is living in her house and works with her dad. So it's been a tough situation but we had a long conversation after church on Sunday and she came with us to lunch on Sunday too. And this morning she told us that Carlos, her boyfriend, is gonna move out! She told us the story of how it all happened. After she ate lunch with us on Sunday she went back to her store, cuz she has her own store, and started reading the Book of Mormon out loud and she couldn't stop reading. She just kept reading and marking and reading more. And this whole time her boyfriend was listening to her read. And after hours of reading she talked with him and the whole thing when down really calmly. Which is a miracle because they always fight. But basically they agreed that it's better to go their separate ways basically! And another miracle happened to her a few days ago. She was sitting in her store really sad and lonely because all her dad and boyfriend do is fight with her and are always mad at her and no one had come in her store that day. And she was praying and praying for God's help and that God could just show her a sign that he is there and loves her. And 10 minutes later a little bird flew into her store and just sat there. And for her this was a miracle And a sign that God really is aware of her and loves her.
Another miracle that happened. We were sitting at a park waiting for someone to show up for a lesson and a man just approached us and asked us “what's the difference between your church and all the other churches?” and we explained the restoration and how this church is literally the same church that Jesus established. And we gave him a pamphlet about the restoration and he walked away, sat down, and started reading. We had a video call and when we finished we walked over and he had just finished the pamphlet. He said that it actually all makes sense. Then we taught him about the Plan of Salvation, why we are here on the earth and what's the purpose of our life. Then we gave him a pamphlet of the plan of salvation. And as we were leaving we started reading this pamphlet too! He also said that he's gonna come to church! We hope that he does come because he lives in the streets and the gospel can really help him turn his life around.
But this week we had a lot of conversations with people that don't believe in anything. Like literally one day we talked to like 5 people in a row that literally don't believe in anything at all. And I actually really like to talk to these people because it makes me think how different my life would be without the gospel. And how lucky we are to have this knowledge of the purpose of this life, why we have to work, why we have families, why it's important to be married, why we need to go to church, why we try to be good people, and so much more.
But this week I have grown a lot. My companion doesn't know the area and I really have to take control of it all. Now I love talking to random people. It is so fun to get to know different people with different experiences in life. And I love Spanish!! It is so so so fun. Especially when I can express basically everything I want and with personality! It makes talking with people so much more fun! And another miracle that happened this week is that we found 13 people this week that have possible interest to learn more. This has never happened, usually it's like 4 or 5, 6 if we are lucky and this week we found 13!! And hopefully we are going to have our first baptism this week, if not next week! I feel like I am starting to see a little bit of the fruits of our labor!
I love my mission, I love you guys, and God loves you guys!!
