Week 26
Happy Monday!!
This week was a little bit crazy! First of all my companion got sick, like really sick and another sister missionary got sick, so we did a little exchange for the day so the two sickies could rest us and me and Hna Ribeiro could work. But after English class, Hna Ribeiro started feeling super sick, so we went back to our apartment and just rested. I was kind of funny, just me and 3 girls like deadly sick. But I somehow managed to avoid it and I never got sick woohoo!! But we were stuck in the apartment for 2 days and so I got to clean the apartment, cook food, and study a bunch! It was actually quite fun for the first little bit, and then I ran out of things to do. It made the week go by a bit slower, but we still had an awesome Sunday!
This sunday we had a family night with one of our friends Luis and the family Valesquez. It was super fun, and we talked about prayer and the power of prayer. And that God really does listen to our prayers. And the invitation was to pray to God and only ask if you really are his daughter or son. Can I just say that I love prayer and praying! Because the only person that really knows you is God and Jesus Christ. And they know best how to help us.
This tuesday we had a sports night and we the missionaries provided pizzas and drinks and a ton of people showed up! It was awesome! I got to play against a “professional” ping pong player. But I beat him, so I don’t actually know if he’s professional. But it was super fun to play! And we played volleyball, basketball, card games, and chatted. The best turn out we’ve ever had.
This week we had a lesson with Andrea. We met her just walking in the street before Christmas, and we showed her a chritmas video, and she loved it. So we finally found a day and time that worked to visit her and when we did, literally the spirit was so strong. She told us that she loves God and Jesus Christ and she isn’t going to church right now, but she is looking for a congregation, feels like she needs to get closer to Jesus Christ but doesn’t know how, and wants to leave the house more and go to the activities in the church!!! And she told us when we showed her the video she had a really strong feeling that she needed to meet with us again! Towards the end of the lesson we video called Sister Rosa Labra from our ward and she shared her testimony about the church. How she was looking for a church that filled her and not one church felt right, until 2 years of searching, she found the church of Jesus Christ. And she shared about how the church has blessed her life. And the importance of prayer. And by the end of this lesson we are all in tears because Sister Rosa didn’t know that literally everything she shared was exactly the way Andrea was feeling. And we were all three crying together because the spirit was so so strong. And when we left it was slightly raining, it was like god was crying with us too! That day was very special for me!
Last night we were talking with a guy outside his door and he said something that I liked a lot. And its an analogy very chilean. He said that we as missionaries
This week I’ve been studying in Alma and I loved this 2 verses from chapter 36
27 And I have been supported under trials and troubles of every kind, yea, and in all manner of afflictions; yea, God has delivered me from prison, and from bonds, and from death; yea, and I do put my trust in him, and he will still deliver me.
28 And I know that he will raise me up at the last day, to dwell with him in glory; yea, and I will praise him forever, for he has brought our fathers out of Egypt, and he has swallowed up the Egyptians in the Red Sea; and he led them by his power into the promised land; yea, and he has delivered them out of bondage and captivity from time to time.
We believe in the same God that freed the people from the Egyptians. We believe in a God of miracles. And there are miracles this big happening right now. So if you feel like your life situations are too difficult for God to solve, there is nothing too big or difficult for Him. God will deliver you. Just trust Him.
I know God and Jesus live. And they know you and love you forever. Now is the time here on earth to become more like Them and prepare to live in their presence. Our days here are numbered. Lets use them for good!
Have a great week! I love you and God loves you!!
