Week 34
This week was amazing!
This week was exactly what I needed. On thursday we had zone conference! It was so amazing, I left so ready and excited to go and share my testimony of Jesus with everyone! We got back to our area with a lot of faith that we were really going to find more people and we didn’t even leave the street we live on because we were talking to so many people! And they all had crazy difficult life experiences that they shared with us and we were able to testify of gospel truths to give them hope in their lives! It was really a huge blessing. And I felt the spirit so strongly, which was also a huge blessing because its been a while I feel like since I’ve really really felt the spirit strongly, probably with all the stress of white washing and training so it was a tender mercy for me. I felt super strongly that God was aware of me and sent me all the experiences I had this week to help me out.
On Tuesday the power went out in the middle of the day, and there was no internet, no power, no light, no nothing. And it happened for the entire country of Chile. It happened when we were in the most dangerous part of our area. But we kept working until we got a message from the mission president that said we all needed to go to our apartments because its not safe to be out in the streets without power. Which it was a miracle that we got the message, because there wasn’t internet. But we went back to the apartment and played cards, I taught my companion all the card games I know. It was nice to have no responsibilities for a few hours.
Wednesday we had exchanges but in a trio. Here in Placilla there are 6 sister missionaries with 3 areas. So we split us 6 into two trios and we split the 3 areas in half. It was my first time being in a trio! It was super fun. We also had some crazy spiritual experiences. We met this lady because we were looking for her son. But then she told us that her son passed away in a car accident a few years ago. And before he died he was receiving the missionaries and learning about the gospel. And it was super obvious that this lady was still really hurting from the loss of her son. And we were able to give her comfort by sharing the amazing plan of salvation. We also met a recent convert that shared with us an experience she had. She told us that when her Grandpa died it was during covid, so she didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to him. And she was devastated because they were really close. But the night after she had a dream of a field full of wild flowers and in the middle of the field was her Grandpa and he was really happy. And next to him appeared a man dressed in all white with a beard and he said to her, “don’t worry I’ll take care of him”. And she told us that the pain of her grandpa’s death went away because she knew that Jesus was taking care of him and he was happy.
I want to tell you guys about Jorge. Jorge was baptized a few years ago, but fell back into the habit of drinking and stopped going to church. When we first arrived in Placilla his door was one of the firsts we knocked on. He let us in and told us about how the night before he drank so much that he threw up everything until he started throwing up blood. And in that moment he realized that something needed to change. And since then, we’ve helped him stop drinking, he’s excited to come to church every Sunday, he can’t put the Book of Mormon down, he wants to get his temple recommend and work in family history, and he wants to invite everyone to come to Christ! It’s crazy to see the change in him and the light he has back! He is such an example to me of the power of Jesus’ atonement. It really has the power to overcome every temptation or sin.
On Sunday we were sitting in sacrament meeting and right before the ceremony of the sacrament started, 2 of our friends walked in, Fransisca and Miranda! We had invited them in the week, but we didn’t have contact with them after so we thought the odds were pretty low of them coming because we always invite a million people in the street to come, but they came! And they loved it! They even stayed for the classes afterwards and we are going to visit them this week! I have a lot of faith that they are going to want to have the blessings of baptism in their lives! I love the work of the Lord, I love being a missionary, I love seeing God’s miracles every day! If you haven’t studied Come Follow Me this week, do it! It’s so amazing! I know that it was super difficult for Joseph Smith and all the people that were called to help to restore the Church of Jesus Christ, but they had heaven on their side to cheer them on. And something that Iove is that we have heaven on our side too. God will always give us the comforting, modivating, guiding dirrection we need. Always! We just need to ask, and then listen and look. I know that God answers our prayers. This week for me was an answer to my prayers in so many ways, and I owe it all to Jesus. I love him with all of my heart.
Have a great week! God loves you!
