Week 45

 Yayyy happy Monday!

This week was one of the best weeks on my mission! I hit 10 months and people are starting to tell me that I’ve been here for a while which is a really odd feeling. But we had transfers and Hermana Alfonso is my new companion! She is just AMAZING! She’s from Spain and she is the funniest ever! We just get along so well. It's been so fun to work hard and laugh hard together. We are really just enjoying every second.

This week was my companion's birthday so me and the other sisters in our apartment stayed up and we decorated the apartment and made her pancakes in the morning. And for our lunch appointment the other sisters surprised her and bought a lemon pie! It was so fun and this same day, there was a wedding in the church! So we went to help and also get to know the people that were family members of the bride. It was so special. The bride isn’t a member of the church, but she got married to a member and the next day her now husband baptized her! It was so so special!!

Some miracles of the week was on Sunday before church we went to a few of our friends house’s to walk with them to church, but they couldn’t come, so we started walking back to the church building and on our way we saw one of our friends walking in the street with a suit coat on and church shoes. We approached him and started talking and he told us that he was on his way to church and we thought he meant a different church, but then we asked him which church and he said, “To your church, I’ll follow you guys cuz I don’t know where it is”. It was literally a miracle.

One thing I learned this week is that Jesus really wants us to be happy. He wants us to be able to have joy even while we are passing through difficult times. This week I did things that were difficult, I kept working when I was tired, invited people to church even when I thought our work for the day was finished, and honestly this week I had the most joy that I’ve ever had. It was hard, but life is meant to be hard. When we are in our comfort zone, we don’t grow. It’s when we are tired, don’t want to keep working, or think our work is finished that is when we really need to remember Jesus. When Jesus had suffered all of the pains of the world, was humiliated publicly, and died brutally you would think it would be fair that he got to rest. But what did he do after all his work was done? He ministered and served the people in the spirit world. He didn’t rest, he never did. And still to this day he is working, working in our lives, helping us to keep going even when we deserve a break. This is what life is about. Sacrificing our time, resources, and energy to Jesus because he sacrificed his life. I’m a witness that it is worth it to keep working even when we are tired, even when we aren’t seeing the results because that is when the miracles come. And we can have joy in the journey. I love my Savior. I know he lives.

I love him. And he loves you. Hermana Hilton
