Week 46

There was a primary activity this week that was basically a day in the life of a missionary. We got to help in this activity and it was awesome because all the kids wrote their testimony inside of the Book of Mormon and we went out to the park and gave them to people and taught them a little bit about it and invited them to church! It was so cool to see so many kids dressed up in church attire in the park giving Book of Mormons. It was an awesome experience.

This week for me was focused in being able to teach with the spirit and teaching to the needs of the people. Instead of teaching the same basically memorized phrases that I always say, I tried to follow the spirit and teach in a way that brings the spirit so the people can feel it. I’ve really realized the importance of the Spirit. I am not teaching anyone, the spirit is teaching. Something I read in my studies that really stuck out to me was in Doctrine and Covenants 50:13-22 and one part of it says that “he that preacheth and he that receiveth, understand one another, and both are edified and rejoice together.” I love this promise because the person that’s listening to the message for the first time understands and the person that already knew the message recieves a stronger testimony. I’ve really seen a difference in everything this week! The people feel the spirit more and I learn a lot too! I can really feel the joy that comes from helping and serving others!

This week a lot of people have told us stories about missionaries that have returned and stopped going to church, or aren’t living up to their potential. And it was really hard for me at first to listen to these stories, but then I realized that it all starts with the little things we do. If we keep doing the little daily things to remind ourselves of Jesus we will continually become stronger and stronger. If we keep doing little things to keep the spirit close we won’t get pushed off the path. I know that the path is little but we have all the tools and help we need to keep pressing forward with trust and faith in Jesus. We can pray to have the desire and strength to get back on the path. Like the profet has said its not too late and you’re not too far away to get back on the covenant path. Maybe the path is a little bit harder and requires more, but the blessings are eternal. It’s worth it to work harder now so that we can reach our highest potential in the presence of God. I love my Savior Jesus Christ. He really is my best friend. I am so grateful that I have everyday to represent his name.
I love him with everything I have.
And I know he loves you too.
