Week 56

This week was the craziest week of my mission.

Right when I got to Viña things just started right away. We had 2 Tsunami alerts 2 days in a row so that made it hard to work because we had to evacuate. We live like 10 blocks from the beach so we were definitely right in the zone of danger, but both times nothing really happened, just the sea level raised. But it made it interesting! I live with 7 other sister missionaries, so morning time and night time is always fun! But I love it!

This week I got to meet Rafael and see him get baptized this Sunday! It was so special to meet him and see how much he trusts in God. He is going to move to the South part of Chile in 1 or 2 weeks so he could have waited to get baptized down there, but he understood the importance of what it means to be baptized and decided that it's better to have the blessings right now in his life. I'm so grateful for knowing him!

Right now I'm in a trio with 2 of my bestest friends on the mission. We are just having so much fun working so hard and seeing results! It's so fun to work in the city because they're a lot of people, it's really lively, and we get to see the beach a lot! The ward is awesome and I already love the people that we are teaching. There really are people that are just waiting to learn more.
This week it rained hard for 3 days straight. It was the first time that I had experienced hard hard rain and being sopping wet and cold the entire day. It was pretty miserable but also fun! We just laughed and made the best of everything.
I am so grateful this week because I learned so much on dedicating every second of my day to helping others. Looking back I feel like I was hardy doing anything, but I love how that us how life is. As we learn and grow and get better, looking back we might feel frustrated because we should've done things better, but really it's just because we've gotten better and we've grown. And it's a really beautiful thing because we have everyday to get better and grow. I am so grateful for the gospel and this time I have to share it. One of my companions is about to go home, and I've been thinking a lot about how I want to prepare myself so that the tradition isn't as blunt, but I've learned that a mission is so different, but what comes after is really when the best begins. Being a missionary is not real life, it just a really special time that I have the privilege to live. And I like to think about the mission like a preparation for the rest of our life. And our time on earth is the preparation for eternal life. We need to prepare ourselves and work diligently everyday to become a little more like Jesus, a little more celestial. I hope this week all of us can focus more of Jesus Christ. He loves you!
