Week 62

This week was a crazy one!

First of all our pday got moved to today because today is a national holiday in Chile! So it has been a crazy week and a half! I got to meet my new companion Hermana Hales! She’s from Payson Utah and she is amazing! She is so determined to learn Spanish and share God’s love with everyone! Right when we left our apartment for the first time she started stopping people in the street and sharing with them that God loves them. Her testimony is so pure and strong that even though she might say a few things wrong, the people stop and listen to her. I am so grateful for her courage and love for the people! I am so grateful that I get the opportunity to see everything in a new and fun light. Every little thing to me that has become normal, no is exciting and I love it! For example when people shut us down, normally I get frustrated, but Hna Hales has taught and shown me a new way to love everyone! I appreciate the capacity that Hermana Hales has to love and I have felt really grateful for all the people that show us so much love here. I’ve really tried this week to give everything I can to every person that I talk to. I love that our purpose as missionaries is to invite and help other people to come unto Christ through his restored gospel. That means that it it's my responsibility to help someone develop faith in Christ. For example this week we talked to someone in the street named Cristian and it was crazy because he spoke English basically fluently, But he told us about how he didn’t believe in anything. That we couldn’t trust that God lives just because we felt it, because that’s just an emotion and we can’t trust emotions. After a while talking we found out that he has never really had a spiritual experience and that’s why he believes that God doesn’t exist. He said he has read the Bible because he likes to read and study, but he has never felt anything. So we gave him a Book of Mormon, and we testified of the power of the Book of Mormon and we promised him that he would feel something if he read it. And he didn't want to accept the Book of Mormon, but we gave it to him anyway. We both felt the spirit so strongly. And I know that one day he will read it and if he reads it with an open heart, he will feel the Spirit. I love being able to help people grow their faith in Christ because faith changes everything. Our life begins to change when we have faith and understand what that means in our life. That means that we trust and believe that Jesus can change our lives. That we can become perfect through him. That we can be free from our mistakes and become better through his perfect love and sacrifice.

And another part of our purpose is helping people follow Jesus and repent and be baptized and this week we got to help Samuel understand what repentance means and that it is real for him. We helped him understand that he can really be free from everything he has done through following Jesus and being baptized. When he heard that, he eagerly accepted to be baptized! Keep Samuel in your prayers so he can come through with his goal to be baptized! He needs help in having consistency in his life. He doesn’t have a stable job or a stable living environment. So he needs all of your prayers!
We visited a family that are members of the church and we shared a video about temples and one of the Sister Misionaries that was there with us shared that we don’t leave the real world when we enter the temple. We aren’t in some fantasy spiritual place. Inside of the temple is actually the real world, our home. Right now we are just in a prepatory state. We are just in a testing phase. This earth, isn’t real life. Real life is what we feel when we are in the temple. Real life is living with Heavenly Father, Jesus, and our family. Eternal life is our purpose. We are just in process mode right now. So when you get the chance to go to the temple, think about that you are returning home, getting a little rest from all the work and effort you have been doing. And when you leave the temple you leave with more purpose, more desire to keep working hard to make it back home again. This time on earth is a time to prepare ourselves to live forever with God and our families. Lets make the best out of our test stage. When we fall, let’s get back us again. Let’s love the most we can and give the most we can to our real purose here on earth. We are here to become like Jesus Christ and help others to do the same. I hope each of us can reflect on why we are here and what we can do this week to make our time here on earth worth it. I love my Savior and am so grateful for his example. He is the one to follow!
