Week 69
This week was a tough one. Not for us, but for our friends. A few of them had fallen back into bad habits and broke their progress. We felt like almost all of our friends had taken a big step backward. But I know that God has his perfect plan and timing for every person.
It has given me a lot of sorrow seeing our friends struggling but I know that life isn't always perfect. I know that we will fall. It’s bound to happen. But something I’ve realized is that it doesn’t matter if you fall, how hard you fall, or how often you fall. The most important thing is what you do after you fall. If you trust in Christ’s atonement and try to get up again, or if you stay down and let Satan win. Satan wants you to feel ashamed, embarrassed, worthless. Jesus knows that we are going to fall, but what is more important to him, is what we do after we fall and come short. If we rely on Christ he will heal us, forgive us, and complete us. We are powerless by ourselves. Satan and the world are too big for us to handle, we need Jesus, we should rely on him daily. He gives us the power to be free, to be forgiven, to start again. And maybe we haven’t committed some grand sin, or maybe we have. But Jesus paid for all of us, he loved all of us so much that he gave his life for us. There is a quote that I like a lot from the General Conference from Elder Kearon, He said, “And new beginnings are for more than just our sins and mistakes. Through the goodness and grace of the Saviour, we can have fresh starts that propel change in old mindsets, bad habits, grumpy dispositions, negative attitudes, feelings of powerlessness, and tendencies to blame others and avoid personal responsibility. You can actually change things about yourself that have been wearing you down for years. You can start again through the might of the Master of new beginnings. He never tires of giving new beginnings to us.”
I want to testify that every day is a new day to choose Jesus. Choose to start again. With Jesus all things are possible.
